These are cemeteries which, mostly, have been located. Kent Branch OGS did a spendid work transcribing the known and accessible grave markers some 25 to 30 years ago. But, where are the pioneers, the real pioneers? Like the Peter Traxler (1750-1825), the father (??) of the Peter Traxler 1775-1839) who bought the property on which is located the Traxler Cemetery, Harwich Township. Peter, the father, is also said to have died in Harwich Township. Might it be reasonable to suppose he, also, is buried in said Traxler Cemetery even though there seems no grave marker found at the time of the Transcription of the Cemetery. And many of the other true pioneers ... do they lie in unmarked graves in known cemeteries or do they lie in unknown graves in yet not located early cemeteries in Chatham-Kent.
Please let us know of any graves or any cemeteries of which you know, which we do not already have. Also additional location, etc. Thanks.
The Lot and Concession locations are, mostly, based on the County Atlas. In some townships the Abstract Books use a different Concession numbering system.
The Latitudes and Longitudes are based on GPS readings;
the Google Maps usually seem to show approximate location of those co-ordinates.
Most of the locations show where the stones are; the graves may not be in the same location! Cemeteries and Burying Grounds of the Town of Chatham and City of Chatham are, mostly, entered under their historic township locations.Cemeteries, other graves,

Not a grave, but it IS a place marker. Seemingly quite an old one. Never know when someone might ask where in Kent they would find the "Hills of Tyrone"!! Now we know.
A pathway through the corn ... almost like a lane or such. The stone is a good sized stone that was found along the road (perhaps from road widening or whatever). On the stone the owner has printed "HILLS OF TYRONE'. The stone is on the remains of a well. Nearby there were a house and a barn with "Hills Of Tyrone" written on it. Don't know how long they have been gone. But the owner seemed to want to preserve the name that someone else had given to the farm.
He drove by in his pickup truck, slowly, went to the corner, then turned around and came back and stopped. Guess he figured if I hadn't left, then I wasn't there to harvest "weed". So we had a chat and I found out the above bit about the name and all.
